Wheelchair Access

Since the beginning of the 2010–2011 season many Little Theatre patrons have enjoyed the easier access to the theater afforded by the ramp and entrance on the north side of the building. We have also removed two seats in the auditorium to make space for an electric wheelchair.

Thank You
Eagle Scout Shane Roach and contractor Larry Bayman volunteered their time and expertise to build the ramp at the Little Theatre. Thanks to their hard work the Theatre now has a wheelchair-accessible entrance.

Entrance
An usher will open the ramp entrance 30 minutes before the show starts and close it 5 minutes before the show. Patrons wishing to use this entrance must already have their tickets. The usher will not be able to retrieve tickets.

Wheelchair access
There is space to accommodate one electric wheelchair during each performance. There is no limit for people using manual chairs who are able to transfer to a regular seat. When making reservations, please be sure to indicate that you want to reserve the wheelchair spot. Please note: There are no restrooms on the auditorium level nor is there wheelchair access to the basement.

Parking
At the east end of the sidewalk in front of the loading door there is a parking space reserved for wheelchair vans. This new parking space is designed to allow easy access to the wheelchair-friendly auditorium. Directly next to this parking space is a loading/unloading space. We ask that all of our able patrons observe the “Wheelchair Vans Only” sign and not park in this space.

Parking 101
Here are some things to keep in mind when parking at the theater:

  • Be kind to our neighbors: Our parking lot is not as big as we would like, so we spill out into the street to park. But please don’t park on a neighbor’s lawn or in or in front
    of a driveway.
  • Homeowners can—and in some cases have—called to tow a patron’s vehicle. We want to make sure your vehicle is still there when you are ready to go home.
  • Steer clear of the fire lanes: The theater has two fire lines—one to the west (front) and one to the east (rear) of the building. When you park, please make sure you are not blocking a fire lane. If emergency response is required, the responding agency may call for a tow if the fire lane is blocked. (And yes, we have had an ambulance called to the theater during a show!)
